The 2024 NBA Draft is so special, the league is stretching it to two nights for the first time. Wednesday’s first round was full of surprises, which provoked no shortage of reactions. I’m presenting below my top-line takes – five picks I liked, and five I didn’t – plus a quintet of players whose names I expect to be called this evening. Herewith:

1. Dalton Knecht, No. 17, Los Angeles Lakers.

Every year a player or two that we expected to go high slip a few spots, but I can’t remember a draft where a player this good dropped this far for no apparent reason.
