Seth Davis' Hoop Thoughts: Kansas takes another hit, Grand Canyon gets a win, and a peek at Purdue's next great big man

When college basketball’s free agency season started in March, Kansas was an early winner. The decision of All-America center Hunter Dickinson to return for a fifth year was a major boost to a roster that was returning two other starters. The Jayhawks also added six transfers, a haul rated universally among the nation’s best. When experts published their early preseason top 25’s, the Jayhawks were near the top – and more often than not, at the very top.

Alas, Kansas has been on a losing streak of late. On April 28, freshman recruit Labaron Philon, a 6-2 point guard from Alabama who was ranked No. 32 in the senior class by 247Sports, de-committed and later signed with Alabama. On May 8, one of
