Seth Davis' transfer portal rankings: Top 10 committed and uncommitted players
Tucker DeVries and Johnell Davis top the charts. Let the off-season begin!
I’m old enough to remember when college basketball had an off-season. Nowadays, however, the action begins before the NCAA tournament even ends. Once again, we have well over 1,000 players in the transfer portal, and while the vast majority of those are borderline talents who will have minimal impact, we saw enough examples this past season (Hunter Dickinson, Cam Spencer, Caleb Love and Dalton Knecht, to name a few) who produced major headlines due to their stellar play and ability to help teams play deep into March.
It's still relatively early in portal season, which is why I haven’t put out a preseason top 25 yet. We also have a lot of NBA draft decisions coming in the next six weeks. I’ll break down those situations at a later date, but in the meantime, I have ranked my top 10 transfers who have already chosen their next destination, as well as a top 10 list of those who have yet to make a decision. (Note: I’ve listed the class each player will be next season.) Herewith:
TOP COMMITTED TRANSFERS
1. Tucker DeVries, 6-7 junior guard, Drake to West Virginia
Skinny: DeVries has a chance to be the best transfer in the country next season. He reminds me a lot of Doug McDermott, right down to playing for his father. DeVries can score at all three levels and averaged 21.6 points last season while shooting 44.4
